Wasaya Airways pilots get a new contract

THUNDER BAY — Pilots with Wasaya Airways have a new tentative deal. 
After five months of negotiations, pilots with the regional airline are on their way to ratify the agreement. In a release from ALPA (Air Line Pilots Association), they noted that the new contract will have increased compensation, stronger job-security protections, and enhanced working conditions. 
The airline services 24 remote communities and has approximately 80 pilots. 
The new contract is yet to be ratified by its members; the vote will close on August 10. 
First Nations-owned Wasaya operates from the Thunder Bay International Airport, with satellite locations in Pickle Lake, Red Lake, and Sioux Lookout. It offers charter and passenger service, serving 25 remote First Nations communities in Ontario’s North.
